BOAC, Marinduque – The Philippine Flag is flown at half-mast at the provincial capitol in Boac, Marinduque to express grief over the death of former governor Aristeo M. Lecaroz, who passed away on July 25 at the age of 92.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing away of our dear husband and father, Aristeo M. Lecaroz, after a lingering illness,” his bereaved family announced.
Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr. ordered the Philippine flag to be flown half-mast at the capitol ground for three days.
“In behalf of our Gov. Presbitero Velasco, Jr. and the Provincial Government of Marinduque, we would like to express our sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Ex Gov. Aristeo Lecaroz,” says Atty. Rommel Fernandez, provincial legal officer during the flag ceremony held at the provincial capitol ground on Monday.
In the blog ‘Marinduque Rising’, the ex-governor was honored, which says “Fondly called by Marinduquenos as ‘Ka Aris’, he is a well-loved political leader in the island-province. He was a guiding light of Marinduque Movers, composed of professionals, businessmen and former high-ranking government officials from Marinduque, active in disseminating information that the people should know, providing moral support and committed to unifying Marinduquenos toward improving the quality of life in the province”.
Former Governor Lecaroz served as the province’s chief executive from 1967 to 1988.
Meanwhile, his bereaved family has made an announcement on Saturday that the family is compelled to limit the wake to two days from July 27 to 28 because of health requirements which need to be observed. The number of visitors are restricted to thirty at any single time. Those who come to the wake are requested to comply with minimum health protocols. – Marinduquenews.com
