BOAC, Marinduque – In line with the celebration of National Arbor Day, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) – Mimaropa headed by Nieves Bonifacio and Georgina Opinion initiates ‘Juan for TREEsilience’ Tree Growing Program held in Ino, Mogpog on June 25.
The activity themed ‘2022 Mangroves for 2022 in Marinduque’ purposes to plant 2022 tree seedlings in the chosen areas of the province, is a part of a general program of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRC) and OCD that state and directs to plant mangroves along the country’s coasts, in response to the call for mitigation to alleviate the threat of storm surges and other types of disasters that may be caused by global climate change.
Present in the event were Provincial Administrator Vincent Michael Velasco representing Governor Presbitero Velasco, all of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) in the province along with various member agencies and departments of the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Council. — Marinduquenews.com
