BOAC, Marinduque — From having 10.1 percent in February, the rate of inflation in the province is at 9.4 percent based on the recent press release of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
According to the Chief Statistical Specialist Gemma Opis, there had been a downtrend of inflation this month due to the plodding of prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages which is at 16.4 percent and transport at 5.7 percent respectively.
What contributed a lot to the decrease in inflation of food and non-alcoholic beverages was the decline in the price of fish such as tilapia which went from 33.0 percent in February to only 27.1 percent, vegetables from 36.4 percent to 24.8 and chicken prices from 22.1 to 17.7 percent this month,” Opis added.
Meanwhile, the purchasing power of peso remained at 0.78 percent that leads to fewer goods that an individual can consume. — Marinduquenews.com
