BOAC, Marinduque — The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) of Marinduque State University (MarSU) marks a milestone as it returns to face-to-face mode for the 10th CASS Research Colloquium, scheduled from October 14 to 16 at the MarSU Canopy.
With the theme “Dalumat CASS Research Colloquium: ShowCASSing Creativity – Research and Innovation towards Social Transformation,” the event features an impressive array of research outputs from 2016 to 2024, presented through both paper and poster presentations.
The three-day colloquium opens with preliminaries and an opening ceremony to be graced by CASS Dean Dr. Ernesto Largado, who will deliver the welcome remarks, to be followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Ma. Edelwina Blasé, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training. The CASS Research Coordinator will also present the background and rationale of the colloquium and officially launch the CASS Research and Extension Roadmap 2026–2030. Asst. Prof. Jholey Rose Lancion, Program Chair of BA English Language Studies (BA ELS), will share her remarks for the ELS presenters during the first day.
On the second day, Asst. Prof. Jerome Lingon, Program Chair of BA Communication (BAC), will address the presenters from his program, while the third day will feature Asst. Prof. Rosalinda Punzalan, Program Chair of BS Social Work (BSSW), who will share her message with BSSW student researchers.
The colloquium also shines a spotlight to exemplary student researchers, namely Maria Luisa Lumanog (BA ELS), Pierre Denmar Gutierrez (BSSW), and Lorence Joshua Soto (BAC).
Culminating the event is a roundtable discussion with research professors from CASS—Assoc. Prof. Anna Roffel Lozada, Asst. Prof. Cherry Ann Luna, and Prof. Panchito Labay— to be followed by a closing ceremony featuring the message of Dr. Evangeline Mandia, MarSU Research Director.
In addition to its academic significance, the 10th CASS Research Colloquium coincides with the celebration of Museums and Galleries Month this October. It also forms part of CASS’s 30th founding anniversary, tracing its roots to the School of Arts and Sciences established in 1995 at the then Marinduque Community College in Sta.
