Today in History: MV Doña Paz, Asia’s Titanic

On December 20, 1987, the MV Doña Paz sank after colliding with oil tanker MT Vector in the Tablas Strait, between the islands of Mindoro and Marinduque, killing more than 4,300 people. A total of 26 passengers and crew survived. It was traveling from Tacloban City in Leyte island to Manila. The Doña Paz was built in 1963 by Onomichi Zosen of Onomichi, Hiroshima, Japan, and was originally named Himeyuri Maru. Marinduque Association of British Columbia fundraising event, successful

The Marinduque Association of British Columbia (MABC), a not for profit and non-stock organization of Marinduquenos living in British Columbia, Canada hosted a successful fundraising event last Saturday, November 19, 2016. The event was a dinner dance party held at Renfrew Park Community Centre in Vancouver, Canada with performances, social dancing, raffles and fundraising stuffs. Generated funds will be spent on a range of programs of MABC particularly for its upcoming health mission this February 2018 and scholarship for poor but deserving students in Marinduque.
