BOAC, Marinduque — A fire broke out in one of the classrooms on the third floor of the Engineering Building at Marinduque State University early Sunday morning, March 9 prompting an immediate response from local fire authorities.
According to the initial investigation, at approximately 8:04 am, a duty communication personnel from the Boac Municipal Fire Station received a call from a concerned citizen reporting the fire incident. Upon verification, two fire trucks, along with fire personnel, were immediately dispatched to the university to contain the blaze.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and found a classroom engulfed in flames. The fire was declared under control at 8:11 am and was completely extinguished a minute later at 8:12 am. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
The fire occurred in a three-story, non-residential educational building, with an estimated damage cost of around ₱200,000. The incident was classified under the First Alarm status.
