BOAC, Marinduque — In celebration of National Arts Month, the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) Special Committee on Culture (SCC), in collaboration with the National Youth Commission (NYC) and the region’s State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), is set to hold the “Ani ng Sining” webinar on February 26. The event, themed “Role of Youth in Culture and Arts Development,” aims to highlight the vital role of young people in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
Organized with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) as the secretariat, the webinar will be conducted via Zoom and live-streamed on official NCCA and SUC social media pages. The initiative aligns with the overarching vision of “Pamana 2030: Empowering Mimaropa Youth in Culture and the Arts,” underscoring a forward-looking commitment to cultural conservation and creative innovation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
The 2025 National Arts Webinar seeks to inspire and empower the youth by fostering a deeper appreciation for Filipino heritage. Through engaging discussions, the event aims to encourage active participation in cultural and artistic endeavors, particularly within the Mimaropa region.
The webinar will feature distinguished cultural heritage advocates and experts who will share their insights on heritage conservation and youth empowerment. Among the speakers are Dr. Eric Zerrudo, Mimaropa SCC Chairperson and NCCA Executive Director; Prof. Felipe De Leon, former NCCA Chairperson; and Commissioner Arvin Manuel Villalon, Head of the NCCA Subcommission on the Arts. Additionally, Dr. Nikka Adling of Marinduque State University will serve as the event’s moderator and host.
National Arts Month, mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 683 issued by President Corazon Aquino in 1991, is observed every February to celebrate artistic excellence and recognize the diversity and richness of Filipino heritage and culture. The “Ani ng Sining” webinar serves as a significant platform to inspire the youth and sustain the region’s cultural legacy for future generations. — Marinduquenews.com
