Department of Health – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) together with local government officials of the Province of Romblon today led the inauguration and blessing of the Romblon District Hospital located in Romblon, Romblon.
The district hospital was upgraded and modernized under the DOH-Health Facilities and Enhancement Program with a total allotment amounting to P38,567,224.80 million pesos in 2015 for the construction of a new three-story building.
The new facility will include an emergency room and intensive care unit, patient’s wards, surgery and obstetrics, out-patient department, X-ray, CT scan, labor and delivery room, operation rooms, Neonatal Intensive Care rooms and additional offices for hospital staff.
According to Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo, another P40M will be allocated this year for the purchase of hospital equipment and other needs of the health facility. “We need to complete the resources in order to effectively deliver health care in the community”.
“This hospital will provide first class healthcare services to the people of Romblon, Tablas, Corcuera, Sibuyan Island and Banton. “It will cater to the growing population of the province and can accommodate more patients needing immediate health services”, Janairo added.
The Romblon District Hospital began construction on November 6, 2015 and was completed last December 2016.
The DOH-HFEP program aims to upgrade health facilities and provide training to health professionals and improve access of people to quality health care services. Its objective is to improve the delivery of basic, essential as well as specialized health services in the community.
