BUENAVISTA, Marinduque — The Buenavista Local Government Unit (LGU) demonstrated its dedication to good governance by taking part in the Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) and Grassroots Renewal and Empowerment for Accountable and Transparent (GREAT) Barangays program, held in Ihatub, Boac, Marinduque.
Among the eight barangays in Buenavista that took part in the two-day program are Daykitin, Caigangan, Tres, Libas, Bagacay, Bicas-Bicas, Yook, and Lipata-Tungib.
The program discussed the basics of Republic Act No. 7160, an Act Providing for a Local Government Code of 1991, the Barangay Development Planning and Capacity Development Agenda Formulation, the barangay budget, participation in governance, role of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and its program, Project and Activities for barangays, and the public ethics and accountability.
With the help of this activity, the officials can enhance their skills and competencies to accomplish their roles effectively and provide a quality service for its members.
Jonabeth Vitto, president of League of Barangays – Buenavista Marinduque Chapter, together with the barangay captains and their subordinates, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman, secretary, and treasurer of Buenavista LGU also recognized the efforts and support of DILG in the recently held event.
They also extended their appreciation to the resource speakers who shared their valuable knowledge and expertise, beneficial to the newly-elected officials of the municipality. — Marinduquenews.com
