Grains businessmen from the public market of Gasan, Marinduque together with the National Food Authority (NFA) regular employees, job orders and on the job trainees from Marinduque State College (MSC) attended the orientation on Philippine Grains Standardization Program and Grains Business Rules and Regulations conducted this morning, February 24 at NFA Marinduque Provincial Office.
The activity was facilitated by Provincial Manager Ofelia E. Camacho, PSQAO Bernardita O. Olympia, Provincial Industry Services Officer Ma. Filipina M. Logmao, SGOO/Acting SEIO Salvador D. Veciana and AO III Bernadette M. Ocampo.
The orientation aims to equip the grains businessmen with the knowledge on how to effectively determine the quality and price of rice sold in the market and for the consumers to exercise their power of choice. The facilitators also emphasized the importance and significance of the program, the cooperators of NFA in the implementation and its essential features which include the quality standards and standard packaging and labelling.
The grains businessmen were also reminded to religiously comply with the required facilities and equipment such as signboard, price tag, rice box painted white, NFA license and calibrated weighing scales to avoid imposition of penalties if found violating on NFA rules and regulations.
