Bacorro, lauds Cebu Pacific for flying to Marinduque

BOAC, Marinduque – The provincial government of Marinduque under the leadership of Gov. Romulo Bacorro, Jr. through the Provincial Tourism Office lauds Mr. Lance Gokongwei of Cebu Pacific Airline company, Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco of the Lone District of Marinduque, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the Department of Transportation and Department of Tourism as well as the president of the Philippines – Rodrigo Duterte for the opening of Marinduque Domestic Airport, and the start of commercial passenger operation on Monday, April 1.

Cebu Pacific Air will be flying the Manila-Marinduque-Manila route three times a week during Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with its brandnew ATR 70 Seater Aircraft from NAIA Terminal 4 in Pasay City to Gasan, Marinduque.

According to Gerry Jamilla, provincial tourism officer, “With air transport in place, this will be a start for a new horizon in Marinduque’s tourism industry that will boast its potentials in business, trade, and commerce.”

The direct flight will cut travel time for tourist and travellers who want to visit and experience the serene & laid back atmosphere, and ambiance of the island. That means more time to explore the beaches, islets, caves, wildlife sanctuary, farm tourism sites, churches, old houses historical & heritage sites, and other man made and natural tourist destinations.

The Provincial Tourism Office is tasked to monitor tourist arrivals and behavior, developments in terms of tourism both in private and government sector as well as related infrastructures and manpower capabilities, facilities & services, and compliance environmental laws in accordance with the standards set by the Department of Tourism to better serve the local and foreign clientele.
