Department of Health (DOH) – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) identified nine more Dengvaxia Vaccine Individuals (DVIs) through its Dengvaxia Task Force from the province of Palawan.
“All identified DVIs in the region were verified and are now being monitored for any incidence or occurrence of signs and symptoms that may or may not pertain to the injection of Dengvaxia vaccine,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.
“They are closely being monitored and are being supported in all of their health-seeking needs 24/7,” he emphasized.
As of March 23, 2018, the Regional Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (RESU) in coordination with the provincial health offices identified a total of 121 Dengvaxia Vaccine Individuals (DVI) in MIMAROPA. Most recipients were from Occidental Mindoro with 58; Oriental Mindoro has 34; Marinduque with 13; Romblon has 7; and Palawan with 9 (1 from Taytay and 8 from Puerto Princesa City).

There were six recorded admissions but were later discharged after experiencing headache, fever, cold and vesicular rashes. All There were no reported casualties.
RESU also reported a decrease of 27% on dengue cases in the region with 465 cases compared to 640 cases with the same period last year from January 1 – March 23, 2018.
According to Janairo, most DVIs received the vaccine from private clinics and hospitals and government schools in CALABARZON and at the National Capital Region in 2016. “One identified DVI was vaccinated in 2012”.
“We are continuously coordinating, gathering and collecting data from Physician’s in the provinces who have administered Dengvaxia to children ages 9 years and above and ready to provide immediate medical assistance when the need arises”, Janairo assured. –Marinduquenews.com
