BOAC, Marinduque – Sa nangyaring sesyon nitong Miyerkules, Marso 22, tuluyan ng ibinasura ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Marinduque ang kahilingan ni Gov. Carmencita Reyes na mabigyan ito ng ‘authority’ upang pumasok sa kasunduan sa pagitan ng pamahalang panlalawigan at Diamond McCarthy Law Firm bilang legal counsel, sa Parabellum Capital para sa funding agreement at sa Lax O’Sullivan Lisus Gottieb Law Firm bilang local retainer sa kasong isasampa sa bansang Canada laban sa Placer Dome at Barrick Gold kaugnay ng patuloy na paghahabol ng hustisya sa pinsalang tinamo ng lalawigan sa tatlong dekadang operasyon ng pagmimina ng Marcopper Mining Corporation at Placer Dome.

5/5 ang naging resulta ng halalan kaya kinailangang magbreak ng tie ang presiding officer na si Vice Gov. Bacorro. Hindi naman pumabor ang bise-gobernador, kaya ang resulta, 6 ang No at 5 ang Yes.
Samantala, sa botong 5/4, tinanggal naman bilang chairman ng Committee on Environmental Protection si Bokal Allan Nepomuceno matapos isulong ni Bokal John Pelaez na ideklarang bakante ang posisyon nito.
“Bokal Allan Nepomuceno consistently displayed an unconscionable aversion to the peoples stand on this issue. He not only trivializes the categorical imperative of public office but also desecrates the altar of the sovereign will. He should at the very least manifested the minimum standard of a dignified solon, that of the cold neutrality of an impartial judge, yet he consistently promotes defends and justifies the interests of Diamond McCarthy to the detriment of the peoples’ welfare. Such manifest partiality exhibited and blatant prolonged and unabated fashion constitutes abuse of authority conduct prejudicial the best interest of the service culpable violation of the constitution”, pahayag ni Pelaez ng tumayo ito.
“Betrayal of public trust and grave misconduct aggravated by conflict of interest, he has lost his moral ascendancy to chair the committee on environment. I therefore move that the aforementioned chairmanship be declared vacant”, dagdag ni Pelaez.
