Tinanggap ni Velasco ang Thomasian Award for Government Service sa katatapos lamang na UST Grand Alumni Homecoming.
Sinabi ni Velasco sa kanyang Facebook post “[I’m] honored to be one of the awardees of the Gawad Thomasian Alumni in Government Service Award together with other public officials including Sen. Joel, Congressmen and Sec. Mon Lopez.”
Si Velasco ay nagtapos ng Bachelor of Law sa nasabing unibersidad noong 2005.
