Ang House Bill No. 8729 na may titulong “An Act Converting the Marinduque State College in the Municipality of Boac, Province of Marinduque into a State University, to be known as the Marinduque State University, and Appropriating Funds Therefor” na iniakda ni Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Jay Velasco ay ganap ng batas matapos pagtibayin ng pangulo ng Pilipinas nitong Miyerkules, Hunyo 26.

Velasco, sinabi nito, “With the passage of this Marinduque State Universityhood bill into law, the newest University in the country would be capable of delivering new personnel in the school, particularly in terms of its faculty, which should redound to the benefit of its students. Moreover, the conversion of the academic institution into a University would provide new facilities that would definitely improve the academic environment and would foster growth to the minds of the students.”

“Marinduque State University will be very visible in the community, and we will partner with the leadership of Cong. Velasco, Gov. Velasco, and down to the barangay to really help work for Marinduque to be a sustainable province in agriculture, and in tourism. We will always be willing to work hard and even work harder”, ito ang madamdaming pahayag ni Dr. Merian Mani, presidente ng MSC sa naging panayam ng Marinduque News.
