Nagkausap sina Marinduque Cong. Lord Allan Velasco, Department of Transportation Undersecretary Bobby Lim at ilang opisyales ng DOTr nitong ika-5 ng Oktubre sa Batasang Pambansa sa Quezon City.
Idinulog ng mambabatas sa DOTr ang kasalukuyang kalagayan at posibleng solusyon sa pagsasaayos ng Marinduque Domestic Airport.
Ayon sa Facebook post ni Velasco “The Marinduque airport rehabilitation has been put on hold due to difficulties of the contractor to source aggregates for the project. The shutdown of the airport brought loss of livelihood and tourism opportunities for the province of Marinduque.”
Matatandaan na huling sinilbihan ng Zestair ang nasabing paliparan noong Oktubre 2012. Humigit apat na taon nang hindi nagagamit ng mga turista at lokal na pasahero ang Marinduque Airport na nagresulta sa pagkalugi at tuluyang pagsasara ng isa sa mga pangunahing ‘resort destinations’ sa lalawigan, ang Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa.
