Bayakbakin Elementary School receive Christmas gifts from Marinduquenos in USA

TORRIJOS, Marinduque – More than 50 students in Bayakbakin Elementary School (BES) are going to be happy with a brand new backpacks stuffed with school supplies, umbrella, personal hygiene items, tetra pak juice and cookies over the holidays, all thanks to Marinduqueno Association of the Capital Area (Maca).

Representatives and scholars of Maca, Inc. visited Bayakbakin Elementary School, a far-flung and mountainous community in the town of Torrijos on Sunday, December 16 to distribute gifts to its students and parents.

“It was our officers and members pleasure to give back to the community. May the gifts give a little bit of joy to the children and their families. We hope they enjoyed them”, Maca president Myra Mataac-Sabalbaro said.

Present during the gift giving activity were Mayda Lagran-Education Program Specialist, Glaiza Palatino-Project Development Officer, Barangay Captain Michael Colopano, members of Parent Teacher Association and Sangguniang Barangay officials.

“Sa ngalan po ng Bayakbakin Elementary School, bilang isang gurong-katiwala ng aming paaralan, ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa Marinduqueno Association of the Capital Area sapagkat napakalaking tulong po ang ibinigay sa amin lalo’t higit sa mga bata”, BES school head Joan Pilar said.

“Gayundin po, hindi rin inasahan ng mga magulang at guro na mayroon din po pala kaming regalo, kaya talagang ang kanila pong ipinagkaloob ay makapagpapasaya sa amin ngayong Kapaskuhan”, Pilar added.

Established in 1992, Maca, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Maryland, USA that provides financial assistance to support educational, healthcare, and other improvement initiatives to deserving disadvantaged citizens of the Island Province of Marinduque.
