BUENAVISTA, Marinduque — The Buenavista Local Government Unit (LGU), through the Municipal Police Station (MPS), conducted an anti-drug advocacy campaign at Buenavista National High School (BNHS) recently.
Buenavista LGU is stepping up its efforts to prevent and control the use of illegal drugs by hosting a symposium with a theme “Kontra Droga: Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan’ (BIDA). This is in accordance with Republic Act No. 9165, better known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This insightful discussion was facilitated by Melannie M. Llasos, school nurse of Buenavista, Wenie N. Riego, adviser of Barkada Kontra Droga, and Police Master Sergeant Josephine S. Federico.
The program, in which senior high school students took part, emphasized the negative impacts of drug addiction on both the person and the community. It also aims to raise awareness of the value of life and help youth fight against the risks associated with illegal drugs.
This activity is also aligned with the school’s vision of promoting a safe, healthy, and friendly environment among learners, employees, and its associates. — Marinduquenews.com
