Inaugural Hearts Fest features Marindukanon cinema, performing and literary arts

BOAC, Marinduque – In line with the National Arts Month, Marindukanon Hearts Council for Culture and Arts (MHCCA) launched the “Inaugural Hearts Festival” on Monday, February 26 at Marinduque State College (MSC) main campus in Boac, Marinduque.

To kick start the activities, the School of Liberal Arts Center for Language, Indigenous Culture and Knowledge (SLACLICK) visited the MSC branches in the towns of Torrijos, Santa Cruz and Gasan. This was in preparation for the centennial year of Marinduque Foundation Day on February 21, 2020 by virtue of Act 2280 separating the sub-province of Marinduque from Tayabas now Quezon Province.

The Inaugural Hearts Festival is the culmination of cultural works from the time of Mrs. Rosalinda Castro as Culture and Arts director and Dr. Rex Asuncion, Cultural and Arts Studies director which is being continued by Dr. Randy Nobleza as Marindukanon Cultural and Arts Studies coordinator.

Since 2008, MSC has been actively engaged in cultural heritage and information dissemination. With this year’s theme: “Ani ng Sining, Alab ng Sining,” the Inaugural Hearts Festival is indeed, a harvest of Marindukanon cinema, visual, performing and literary arts.

SLACLICK through the initiatives of MHCCA invited National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Committee on Visual Arts member Joseph Clavita, Tuesday Art Group regular member Dennis Tresvalles along with local artists Nilo Miciano and Anto Monteagudo to witness and grace the occasion. –Marinduquenews.com
