Nagbabala ang Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sa mga mamamayan ng Marinduque hinggil sa investment scam na kasalukuyang kumakalat sa lalawigan.
Ayon sa ipinalabas na advisory ng SEC na may petsang Enero 16, 2017, “The Securities and Exchange Commission has received inquiries and information that some individuals, operating in the Province of Marinduque, are offering investment opportunities to the public in the amount of either “One Hundred Fifty Thousand Pesos (P 150,000) or Three Hundred Thousand Pesos (P 300,000) promising a guaranteed return at the rate of 5% per month for a period of three (3) months. In exchange for every investment, the investor is entitled to receive and enjoy a brand new car, the type of value of which depends on the amount of investment. However, the said vehicle is not registered in the name of the investor. At the expiration of the 3-month period, investors are enticed to either 1) get the interest, roll over their investment and retain the car; 2) get the interest, upgrade their investment from P 150,000 to P 300,000 and exchange the old car with the new and more valuable one; or 3) surrender the car and claim the investment and the promised return.”
Dagdag pa ng SEC, kung may mag-aalok ng investment na may malaking tubo, suriin muna itong mabuti at alamin kung rehistrado o may lisensya mula sa Securities and Exchange Commission.
Kung duda at ‘di nakatitiyak sa ini-aalok na investment offer mas mabuting kumunsulta o magtanong sa SEC. Tumawag lamang sa Corporate Governance and Finance Department o sa Market and Securities Regulation Department sa mga numerong 818-7264 at 584-6080.
Hindi naman nabanggit ng SEC ang pangalan ng tinutukoy na investment group.
Pinaalalahan din ng komisyon ang mga hindi rehistradong kumpanya o grupo na nagbebenta ng investment contract sa publiko na maaari silang kasuhan ng paglabag sa Section 8 at 28 ng Securities Regulation Code (SRC) kung mapatutunayan.
