Torrijos hospital halts regular operation until August 10

TORRIJOS, Marinduque — The Torrijos Municipal Hospital is temporarily suspending its out-patient and in-patient department, delivery room, dental and dietary services from August 2 to August 10, as four employees get infected by COVID-19.

In a letter sent on Monday, Dr. Josine Oblipias, chief of Torrijos hospital said that this measure is needed to ensure the safety of their patients and employees. And while their services are on hold, said hospital will undergo intensive disinfection.

It was just last week that the local government of Torrijos placed some areas under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) after two senior citizens reportedly died of coronavirus disease 2019 from unknown exposure.

According to the Provincial Health Office, the number of COVID-19 cases in town hits 159 with 24 active cases recorded as of August 4.

Meanwhile, Torrijos LGU continues to remind the public to comply with the minimum health and safety protocols to prevent the contraction of the infectious disease. — Marinduquenews.com
