Former Marinduque solon charged in fertilizer scam

State prosecutors have formally charged former Marinduque Rep. Edmundo Reyes, Jr., before the Sandiganbayan in connection with the 2004 fertilizer fund scam.

Reyes and six Department of Agriculture (DA) regional officials were accused of graft and malversation over the allegedly anomalous release of P5 million to Gabaymasa Development Foundation, Inc. despite its alleged lack of qualifications.

To facilitate the releases, the officials allegedly conspired to falsify the disbursement vouchers. Charged alongside Reyes were six DA regional officials: executive director Dennis Araullo, accountant Raymundo Braganza, technical directors Balagtas Torres and Rodolfo Guieb, legislative coordinator Lucille Odejar and cashier II Dory Iranzo.
