Makapuyat NHS, moving forward with Senior High School

The Senior High School of Makapuyat National High School (MNHS) is located at Barangay Napo, Santa Cruz, Marinduque, surrounded by rice fields and mountains. The school is a zone of peace and has a learner-friendly environment.

The school offers Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and General Academic Subjects (GAS) strands under the Academic track. It also offers Bread and Pastry and Electrical and Installation Maintenance under the Technology-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track. It has the total enrollment of 176 SHS learners divided into seven sections and assisted by eight SHS teachers who attended the required Regional Mass Training for Grade 11 teachers.

The SHS building is a two-storey building with six classrooms. Although the building is not yet truly furnished, the students enjoy themselves in everyday activities. With the help of their SHS teachers, they make sure that every day is learning-filled. The students are also enjoying their new uniform. It gives them a feeling of pride– proud to be SHS students.

The Bread and Pastry students enjoy using their cooking equipment like oven and other kitchen utensils donated by the school’s Alumni Association. They are not only train not only to cook but to be a productive individual. They sell their products and learn to do business as well.

“We received a total amount of Three Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 300,000.00) donated by our Alumni Association last March 27, 2016. This is intended for the SHS equipment and other materials,” said Mrs. Danila R. Lillies, Principal II of Makapuyat NHS.

The Electrical Installation and Maintenance students are now working on the Electrical Training which involve working on Wirings Board. They are now ready to install electric circuit with lamps control in different locations. They are also taught how to use the Hammer Drill and other equipment also donated by the Alumni Association.

“I do believe that the implementation of SHS in MNHS is a big task but I am confident that help is always given to us and that our community is always ready to lend their valuable support for the attainment of the ultimate goal of the school–to give the best education possible to our dear learners,” said Mrs. Lilles.

Truly, MNHS is the place to be!
