Department of Health (DOH) – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) has been providing free dialysis treatment under the DOH-TSEKAP (Tamang Serbisyo sa Kalusugan ng Pamilya) program for five patients in Oriental Mindoro.
The patients receiving free medicines and hemodialysis treatment twice a week were from the municipalities of Naujan, Puerto Galera and Bongabong.
According to Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo, the TSEKAP program in MIMAROPA has already served 273,911 (32.9%) individuals out of 831,452 individuals and visited/assessed 91,649 (49.79%) households out of the targeted 184,080 households listed under the Conditional Cash Transfers (CCTs) and National Household Targeting System (NHTS) for Poverty Reduction of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office.
“There is also an on-going TSEKAP Roll-Out in areas affected by the recent Typhoon Nina and they will be given immediate medical care and transport if needed, Dr. Janairo stated.
“We will continue to seek families in GIDA areas together with the local health teams to ensure that they will be given the health care they need,” he assured.
Services provided under the TSEKAP program includes Out-Patient consultation, routine laboratory procedures (fecalysis, urinalysis), Lifestyle Risk Assessment (i.e, blood sugar testing, BMI calculation), MHGAP intervention (Mental Health Gap Action Programme), Animal Bite Assessment, Nutrition Services (micronutrient supplementation, deworming) and medico legal services.
TSEKAP is in coordination with the local social welfare officers, local chief executives, the PNP and BHWs who are essential in the implementation of the program especially in island barangays and mountainous areas.
The target is to provide free medical services to 20 million poor and marginalized Filipinos regardless of age under the “All for Health Towards Health for All” Health Agenda of the government.
