The Buntal Hand Loom Weaving industry in Marinduque started way back in 1983 by the Municipal Government of Torrijos in partnership with Plan International and Small Business Advisory Center.
Major raw material used is the Buntal fiber extracted from the petiole of the Buri Palm tree and is turned by loom weavers from Torrijos into export quality placemats, table runners, blinds, and lamps, some of which are being sold at SM Kultura.
