October inflation in Marinduque down to 0.0%

BOAC, Marinduque — Marinduque’s headline inflation decreased to 0.0 percent in October 2024, or a change of -0.2 percentage points from the inflation rate in the previous month.

Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Chief Statistical Specialist Gemma N. Opis said in the recent press conference via virtual conference that the downtrend of inflation in October 2024 was mainly driven by the combined deceleration in the indices for selected commodity groups such as housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

Also contributing to the downtrend were food and non-alcoholic beverages at -1.5 percent, and furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance at 3.4 percent.

In addition, the province’s food index further decelerated to -1.6 percent in October 2024 from -1.3 percent in the previous month.

Opis added that lower annual grains were also noted in the inflation rate of the commodity groups like personal care and miscellaneous goods and services at 1.9 percent, clothing and footwear, at 2.6 percent and recreation, sport, and culture at 3.2 percent.

On the other hand, higher annual increments were observed in the inflation rates of the following commodity groups like alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 2.0 percent, health, at 0.7 percent, and transportation at -1.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the indices of the following commodity groups maintained compared with the annual figures from the previous month; information and communications at 0.0 percent, education services, at 1.1 percent, restaurants and accommodation services, at 1.5 percent, and financial services at -1.4 percent. — Marinduquenews.com
