BOAC, Marinduque — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) together with the Livelihood Manpower Development and Public Employment Service Office (LMD-PESO) recently conducted an orientation for the new batch of students under the Government Internship Program (GIP).
The orientation was facilitated by DOLE-Marinduque Labor and Employment Officer Ken Aldrin Jalac providing relevant information to the 40 interns regarding the nature of their employment along with the expected activities that they would do throughout the program.
In addition to the orientation, the interns also received labor education lectures in order to help them become aware of and comprehend their rights and responsibilities, and learned the broad spectrum of potential employment opportunities available to them.
Of the 40 GIP beneficiaries, 10 will work for a duration of three months, and 30 will work for a duration of six months as stipulated in their contracts.
Aside from receiving their minimum wages, they will also receive accident insurance coverage from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and a certificate of completion upon completion of the program.
The GIP is a special program designed to give youth the chance to serve the public by involving them in government projects and programs through the GIP partner agencies and showcasing their abilities in the field of public service. — Marinduquenews.com
