MOGPOG, Marinduque – In the spirit of public service and in consonance with the National Disaster Resilience Month, First Secretary Koenraad Du Pont and Fire Corporal Olivier Calle of the Lauwe Fire Station turn overs fire safety equipment to the Bureau of Fire Protection-Marinduque at Magapua Elementary School in Mogpog, Marinduque on Wednesday, July 3.
Said firefighters equipment was donated by Emergency Rescue Zone Fluvia (Kortrijk, Belgium) while the other items was given by the coastal rescue of West Flanders Province, Belgium.
The momentous event was graced by the presence of Marinduque Vice Governor Romulo Bacorro, Jr, Mogpog Municipal Mayor Augusto Leo Livelo, members of Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Department of Education, head of Philippine Red Cross, principal and teachers of Magapua Elementary School, and other stakeholders.
On a spot interview Calle told Marinduque News that it is his passion of giving help specially to fire departments because it is his line of work.
Likewise, Belgium First Secretary to the Philippines Du Pont said that Marinduque is a very good place to live.
“The Belgium Embassy in Manila is very happy to be present today at the hand-over of firefighters material given by a Belgium firefighters squad, the Lauwe Fire Station, by one of our citizens, Mr. Calle and it is an honor and a pleasure to witness this very positive people to people exchange between the beautiful province of Marinduque and Belgium”, Du Pont said.
The First Secretary was also received at Marinduque Provincial Capitol by Governor Presbitero Velasco Jr. as well as by the mayors of Mogpog, Boac and Torrijos.
On a statement by Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Manila, they said, ” The Embassy wishes to thank the dignitaries and dozens of people ensuring such a warm welcome in Marinduque, of which we remember its beauty, its lovely people and its rich cultural traditions, such as Putong.”
Possible programs and partnership between the country of Belgium and the province of Marinduque are on its way to realization as the First Secretary assured that they will help the province on their continued service to the people. – Marinduquenews.com
