BOAC, Marinduque — Following the launch of free Wi-Fi in strategic areas of Marinduque in 2023, the next step is to strengthen the internet connectivity through a new communications tower by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Mimaropa, in the town of Boac.
DICT Mimaropa Regional Director Emmy Lou V. Delfin shared during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Calapan City that the communications tower will also connect government agencies.
“Aming itinatag ang GovNet facility para sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng itinayo naming 42-meter communications tower sa lugar ng Kapitolyo upang makatulong sa kanilang mabilis na transaksyon,” she said.

Delfin also reported on the services provided to the people of Marinduque, such as training for 60 individuals on Cybersecurity Awareness, 19 orientation on Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) and User’s Training, and the issuance of 522 PNPKI Digital Certificates.
Additionally, DICT Mimaropa was able to conduct four training on digital jobs with 94 graduates, and 62 training on digital literacy.
Apart from these services, they also conducted training on E-commerce, digital marketing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), artificial intelligence, computer applications, internet essentials, cybersecurity hygiene, digital citizenship, and Microsoft Office productivity tools.
