“The National Costume is inspired by the Moryonan also known as the Moriones Festival. It is a colorful festival celebrated on the island of Marinduque in the Philippines during the Holy Week,” ani Isorena sa kanyang Instagram post.
“The ‘moriones’ are people in costumes and masks replicating the garb of biblical Roman soldiers as interpreted by local folks.

“This festival inspired the creation of other festivals in the Philippines where cultural practices or folk history is turned into street festivals.
“The mythical bird ‘Sarimanok’ was also added to the whole ensemble making it more dramatic.”
