PAO provides technical support to vegetable farmers in Buenavista

BUENAVISTA, Marinduque — The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) visited local farmers’ vegetable farms and corn production in several barangays of Buenavista as part of their extension work in monitoring the products and plantations in Marinduque.

Rommel Jimena, agricultural technician of PAO, led the visits together with other members of the organization. They monitored the vegetable and corn productions of each local farmer and communicated on what help can be done to increase their profits.

Among the vegetable farms visited are the tomato farms of Perlita Siena, squash and chilies in Brgy. Bagtingon, vegetable farms and sweet pearl corn production of Nicanor Abling Jr. in Brgy. Caigangan, okra and corn production of Luningning Evia, ampalaya (bitter melon) production of Mariel Espirito, dwarf coconut and vegetable farm in Brgy. Daykitin, vegetable farms of Edmund Lining in Brgy. Bancoro and Daykitin and dwarf coconut production in Brgy. Timbo.

While visiting the farms, they also distributed corn seedlings and tomato seedlings as additional crops that can be planted by the local farmers. The harvested vegetables will also be delivered and will be sold out in their booth at the Marinduque Expo in Boac.

With the aid of these initiatives, the Provincial Agriculture Office is able to provide local farmers with the technical assistance and support they need to increase productivity and turn them into a profit. — Marinduquenews.com
