Approximately Php123 billion of investments is expected to fuel government programs, building up the regional economy and laying the groundworks for Ambisyon Natin 2040 and President Rodrigo Duterte’s 0+10 Agenda in Mimaropa.
This is one of the major outputs of the recent Full Council Meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-Mimaropa as the council approved and endorsed the 2018 Agency Investment Programs of the development administration, economic, social and infrastructure committees.
The 2018 Investment Program also includes provision for the establishment of regional offices to be located in Calapan City, the designated regional government center as mandated by Republic Act 10879 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
Also, the program includes Php23.7B proposed tourism road and soft infrastructure projects; Php750M improvement/upgrading of major airports in San Jose and Busuanga; Php106.9M sitio electrification program; and, the Php75M construction of TESDA Regional Training Center.
Palawan Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez and RDC Chair presided over the 1st quarter meeting held at the Provincial Capitol in Puerto Princesa City and attended by members and representatives of regional line agencies and local government units. Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso Umali Jr., Occidental Mindoro Governor Gene Mendiola, and Romblon Governor Lolong Firmalo led the local government officials who participated in the quarterly meeting.
The RDC reviews and endorses to the national government the annual budgets of agency regional offices, state universities and colleges and other special development authorities.
