After hiding for more than five years, joint operatives of Sto. Tomas, Batangas and Gasan police stations of Marinduque arrested a 60-year-old rape suspect in Bgy. Poblacion IV, Sto. Tomas, provincial police PIO chief Insp. Hazel P. Luma-ang said on Tuesday, February 6.
Acting Batangas police director Senior Supt. Alden Bacarra Delvo said the suspect, tagged as the no. 4 provincial level of Marinduque, PPO, PRO 4B, was identified as Leodigario Sapulpaya Lawig, 60, single, helper, a native of Bgy. Laon, Mogpog, Marinduque and presently residing in Bgy. Real, Calamba City, Laguna.

On February 6, joint elements of Sto. Tomas Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by deputy Senior Insp. Erickson A. Go, together with elements of Gasan MPS headed by PO2 Jay Anthony S. Custodio, conducted an operation against the wanted person at 10:30 p.m. that resulted in his arrest by virtue of warrants for rape and acts of lasciviousness in relation to RA 7610 issued by Judge Antonina M. Calderon-Magturo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 94 of Marinduque dated February 20, 2017.
The rape incident occurred on April 12, 2012 in Bgy. Libtangan, Gasan, when the minor victim Sol (not her real name) was allegedly raped by the suspect.
The accused was detained at the Sto. Tomas MPS holding cell for proper disposition. -Jojo C. Magsombol, Journal Online
