BOAC, Marinduque — The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is calling for interested individuals and organizations from Mimaropa to submit project proposals for the 2022 Competitive Grants Program until August 31 of the current year.
On a virtual presser initiated by the NCCA and hosted by Philippine Information Agency-Mimaropa, Corrinah Anne Olazo, NCCA Project Development Officer stated the significance of the program in preserving the Filipino culture and arts in every province in the country.
“Ang intention talaga ng ating competitive grants program ay to encourage yung ating mga members of the cultural sector na magsagawa ng mga programs and priority projects, ayon nga ito sa ating adhikain na patuloy na palaganapin, pagyabungin at pagpapahalaga sa ating kultura (The genuine intention of our competitive grants program is to encourage our members in the cultural sector to carry out programs and priority projects. This is in line with our aspiration to continue to spread, nurture and value our culture),” Olazo said.
Currently, there are a number of projects in the Mimaropa region that were funded through the NCCA Grants Program like the Luzon Dap-ayan Center for Culture and the Arts in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, the Kalutang Project in Marinduque, and the Inventory of the Traditional Ritual Dance Keder (Kadar) of the Palaw’an in Palawan.
Moreover, it was discussed that interested applicants for the program must have no on-going project or unliquidated grant with the NCCA and must have the necessary accreditation requirements. The general guidelines for applicants states that they shall submit only one project proposal per proponent and must be in accordance with the set of priorities identified by the NCCA.
The Competitive Grants Program is anchored on the commission’s vision of “A Filipino people with a strong sense of nationhood and deep respect for cultural diversity” and aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022.
NCCA is also directed by the Republic Act No. 7356, to give grants to artists and cultural groups which contribute significantly to the Filipino’s cultural legacy as means to extend artistic achievement; and give grants for the development, protection, preservation, and dissemination of Philippine culture and arts.
Furthermore, those who are interested in submitting their proposal for the program can download the official form and full guidelines at https://ncca.gov.ph/about-ncca-3/grants-program/, and can send their entry via email though ppfpd@ncca.gov.ph. — Marinduquenews.com
